How Much Caffeine Is in a Cup of Coffee?
A typical 240 ml (8 oz) cup of brewed coffee has roughly 80 to 100 mg of caffeine, but the real number depends on the beans, the dose and the brew method.
Why the numbers vary
Robusta beans carry about twice the caffeine of arabica, so blends with robusta run higher. A bigger dose of coffee means more caffeine regardless of the method, which is why a large café cold brew can easily pass 200 mg.
A note on sensitivity
People metabolise caffeine at very different speeds. If coffee affects your sleep or makes you jittery, cut back or move your last cup earlier in the day, and talk to a doctor if you have a heart condition, are pregnant or take medication.
